The new electronic era of CUPRA is here – CUPRA Born now available for sale and test drive

CUPRA was spun off from SEAT into its own band just three years ago in 2018, and now the first all-electric car from this exceptional challenger brand – the CUPRA Born – arrives on the market. In addition to its evocative design, the car offers an advanced power train and immediate performance, as well as an excellent driving feel in all driving situations. CUPRA Born’s inspiring design sets it apart from its competitors and is ready to shake up the market.

CUPRA Born is based on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB platform structure. The CUPRA Born models launched in Finland are equipped with a 58 kWh battery (net capacity). The electric motor of this version of the CUPRA Born produces 150 kW (204 hp) and a maximum torque of 310 Nm. It accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 7.3 seconds and reaches a top speed of 160 km/h. The CUPRA Born has an operating range of up to 421 kilometres (WLTP).

The CUPRA Born has a very fast charging capacity, with 120 kW of charging power for an additional 100 km of operating distance in just 8 minutes. CUPRA also ensures the longevity of the car, with a 5-year or 100,000 km warranty on the car and a battery warranty up to 8 years or 160,000 km (whichever comes first).

CUPRA Born launch equipment levels in Finland

The very comprehensive standard equipment of the CUPRA Born model includes. heat pump, electric parking heating and cooling, heated CUPRA multifunction steering wheel, ACC adaptive cruise control and Front Assist environmental monitoring system with emergency braking function, LED driving and tail lights, CUPRA digital instrument panel 5.3″, Navi System audio and navigation system with 12″ colour touch screen, wireless smartphone charging and Full Link smartphone mirroring, front and rear parking sensors, reversing camera and high beam assist, Kessy Advanced, keyless central locking and start, and CUPRA bucket seats with fabric upholstery (centre seat made of SEQUAL recycled material). Driver assistance systems standard on this accessory level include traffic sign recognition and Lane Assist. In addition, a charging device (Mode 2) with a socket plug and a Mode 3 cable suitable for public chargers are included.

Prices for the CUPRA Born model start from EUR 42 390,00.

The standard equipment of the CUPRA Born MAX model also includes: AR-HUD windscreen with Augmented Reality, Top View Camera environmental monitoring system, panoramic sunroof with sunshade, Side Assist lane departure warning and Exit Assist cross-traffic warning, and CUPRA bucket seats with power adjustment, massage function and Dinamica microfibre upholstery made from recycled materials.

Prices for the CUPRA Born MAX model start from EUR 46 990,00.

With a choice of six colours (Vapor Gray, Glacial White, Geyser Silver, Rayleigh Red, Quasar Grey and the exclusive Aurora Blue), CUPRA Born’s personality can be personalised to your taste. All colours emphasise the personality and determination of the brand’s first all-electric car.

In addition, a EUR 2 000 full electric car subsidy from the state is available for both models.

The first customer deliveries of CUPRA Born models to Finland will start in January 2022 and the delivery time for new orders at the start of sales will be approximately 3 months.

CUPRA Born -models

The CUPRA Born is also the first CUPRA model to be produced CO2-neutrally throughout the entire production chain and delivered to the customer in a fully CO2-neutral state. Sustainability is taken into account throughout the entire production chain at the Zwickau plant. Inevitable emissions during production are compensated by various environmental projects.

In figures, the CUPRA Born is 4 322 mm long, 1 809 mm wide, 1 540 mm high and has a wheelbase of 2 766 mm, an unladen weight of between 1811 and 1934 kg and a maximum total mass of 2260 kg, depending on the equipment. The CUPRA Born has a drag coefficient of 0.27 and a turning circle of just 10.15 metres. The trunk capacity is 385 litres.

The CUPRA Born is a driver’s car: with Sport Adaptive Chassis Control (DCC Sport) and Electronic Stability Control (ESC Sport), it offers an all-electric, high-performance, dynamic car that’s fun to drive. Progressive Steering (standard) gives the driver more confidence and a sense of control, while special Sport Stability Control (ESC Sport) and enhanced brakes ensure that the CUPRA Born performs in all conditions. The CUPRA Born adapts to the driver’s needs with five different driving modes: range, comfort, performance, individual and CUPRA, the last of which is only available with the e-Boost package. The driving modes allow you to modify the engine response, steering and suspension.

The CUPRA Born can be charged with both AC and DC power (AD/DC). Charging the battery is quick and effortless, whether you’re on the road or at home. The CUPRA Easy Charging app manages everything related to charging. No matter what charging infrastructure is available, all functions are always at your fingertips. The app also makes it easy to find and pay for charging at public charging stations.

In Finland, the CUPRA Born collection will be further expanded during 2022. Next year, CUPRA Born models with a smaller battery size, 45 kWh, with an operating range of around 340 kilometres, will be launched. A 58 kWh battery with e-Boost package will also be available, as well as a larger 77 kWh battery with e-Boost and Range packages for a range of up to 540 km.

The first CUPRA Born models have already arrived at CUPRA dealers in Finland.
